Importance of Illustration in Books

Illustration is very much significant for books, as I have realized so far. Nowadays I look at the illustration of the books while buying. Only those consecutive black straight lines do not give me that charm! If the cover design is attractive enough, and tempting drawings exist inside, it increases my interest in the book.

Indian Bengali books, especially which are for our age group, amaze me with their appealing cover looks. The Ray family (Upendra Kishore, Sukumar and Satyajit) raised the importance of illustration in children and juvenile books. Greatly grateful to them!
